La Mussia was begun as a farm
and for eleven years, as an Agriturismo.
La Mussia is managed by the
Piccatto/Toso family with respect for local traditions and invites
you to enjoy an experience not found in other sites within the Asti
region.
It is situated among the towns and villages of the region
and well steeped in the beauty of the area and the animals that
reside on the farm.
Agriturismo La Mussia is
situated in the heart of the Monferrato, famous for the production of
Barbera d'Asti and is easily reached by exiting the toll road on
Asti Est.
We are located 20 kilometers from Asti, 25 from Acqui
Terme and 35 from Alba.
We have ten rooms (all with
private bath and television) decorated in the local style including
one adapted for handicapped guests. Your stay will be one to
remember.
We also have four independent
apartments, decorated with taste and charm with two or four beds in
each. The apartments are available also for brief stays of a weekend
or more.
The breakfast room serves a buffet breakfast with jams from the farm, cakes
and biscuits and is available to the guests (with reservation) for cooking at
most times of the day and night.
La Mussia has 27 hectares of land along with the Piccatto-Toso home
and the Agriturismo. A wood-fired pizza oven is available for
guest use. Wood for the oven is available (at a small cost) so you
may try your hand at making typical Italian pizza (with help from either
Claudio or Laura). If you are our guest during the Truffle season,
you may request a special meal to be prepared by Laura's mother Carla
that uses these very expensive and very special products of the area.
Managed by Laura Toso and her husband, Claudio Piccatto with the able
assistance of their three children, Federica, Francesca and Giacomo and Laura's
mother, Carla, in the kitchen, La Mussia
features a quiet surrounding with the ability to hike in the hills, rent
bicycles in Nizza, rent horses at a nearby stable and in season, help with the
grape harvest. La Mussia offers a translator/driver program for those that
are unfamiliar with the area and/or need someone to translate. Please see
our translator/driver's for details.
For groups of at least eight persons, it is possible to book a guided food
and wine tasting with a young wine producer and his best Piemontese wines.
There is also a swimming pool, ping pong table and tennis court as well as
games for younger guests. These are available only to those that are
staying with us.
During the period from Easter through the first of November, La Mussia is an
Agriturismo offering its guests who choose the half-pension option, breakfast
and authentic Piemontese cuisine at dinner, Monday through Saturday. From
November through Easter, only a breakfast buffet is available. La Mussia is
available throughout the year by reservation.
